Property Claim Process
Fire, water damage, burglary or storm — acting fast and preserving evidence decide how smooth your claim will be. Follow these six steps.
What property policies usually cover
Important: Do not dispose of damaged property until the loss adjuster has inspected it — discarding evidence can reduce or void your claim.
Six-step claim flow
Stop further damage — shut off water/electricity, board up windows. Do not throw anything away before the adjuster arrives.
Take photos & videos from multiple angles. Make a written inventory of damaged items with brand, model and purchase date.
WhatsApp us with the incident summary. Late notification (typically more than 14 days after the incident) requires a written explanation — insurers may reject claims where the delay prejudices their investigation. For burglary, file a police report first and obtain the case reference number.
For losses above the policy threshold, the insurer appoints an adjuster. We attend with you to present the case.
Obtain 2–3 repair / replacement quotes. Submit the proof of loss form, photos, receipts and adjuster's report.
Insurer issues a settlement offer. We review and negotiate before you sign the discharge — once signed, the claim is final.

The more you prepare, the faster the settlement.
Common questions
How long does a property claim take?+
Small claims (under HK$50,000) typically settle in 2–4 weeks. Larger claims requiring a loss adjuster usually take 1–3 months once documents are complete.
What is 'average' / underinsurance?+
If your sum insured is less than the actual replacement value, the insurer pays only a pro-rated portion of the loss. Always insure for full replacement cost.
Will my premium increase after claiming?+
Possibly. We help you negotiate at renewal and benchmark against 30+ insurers so you don't overpay because of one claim.
